Why is my LED flickering or blinking?

When an LED flickers or blinks, it often seems like a defect. However, in many cases the cause lies not with the light itself, but with the power supply or the installation.

Flickering or blinking – what's the difference?

Flicker Unsteady, slight fluctuations in brightness.
Flash Regularly switching the light on and off.

Possible causes

Inappropriate dimmer The dimmer is not suitable for LED lights.
Incorrect minimum load The connected power is too low.
Transformer not suitable The existing transformer is not compatible with the LED.
Voltage fluctuations Irregular power supply from the grid.
Control or electronics Internal components are sensitive.

Flickering or flashing does not automatically mean that a light is defective. Often the cause can be fixed by adjusting the installation.

If there is uncertainty or if changes to the installation are necessary, a specialist should be consulted.
